I Survived!!

Wow! I cannot believe how time flies! I have been away from my blogging community for quite some time.... busy with kiddos!

I just finished my first full week with 6th graders... yes I survived, yes I would do it again if I had the choice. I LOVE it! It takes a special person to teach 6th grade, they say. I say, it takes a special hero to teach Kindergarten... so we all have our super powers :)

Here are some pictures of my classroom, this was before school started so some things have been added and taken away, it is exciting all the same! (I will take updated pictures on Monday)

reading corner, small I know, but I'm new!

I have a great group of kids and I am so excited for this school year and new chapter in my life!

Teacher Videos... a little inspiration

So many of you have probably seen these videos already, however this first one I am going to share I saw it for the first time yesterday. I felt that it really explained what WE do for our kids. Not only does it feel real, it is honest.

I heard the other day that teachers have the most under appreciated job. But here we are, because it only takes that one kid, note, or smile to redeem it all.

Funny. True. Honest.

This next one, I am almost certain that most teachers have seen. I have seen it twice already, and I am only a first year teacher :)
It doesn't seem as "real" as the first but we all know a "Teddy", we have had an experience like the teacher in this story, maybe not in full length like this, but similar all the same.
My hope, is that one day I may be thought of as a favorite teacher, passionate for what I do, going above and beyond.

Just a little inspiration as you begin your school year :)

August's Currently... & The Buddy Walk!

OK...... So I TOTALLY feel out of the blogging loop... I haven't been able to look at all my wonderful blogging friends' ideas or funny comments! I have been so busy with back to school trainings... decorating... trainings.... decorating.... you get the drift.

It is offically (7 days ago) August! Which means it is time for a new Currently! I am linking up with my friend Farley at Oh' Boy 4th Grade who does a wonderful Currently with her cute 'stash :)

Here is mine:

ON to my Buddy Walk, something that is near and dear to my heart. You may be asking, what is a Buddy Walk? Well, it is a national event that celebrates the lives of individuals with Down Syndrome, one being my son, Gage. I am a HUGE advocate for the acceptance and inclusion of people with disabilities, not just Down Syndrome. October is national Down Syndrome awareness month and this is usually when you will hear about such events like the Buddy Walk. You can find out more about it at www.buddywalk.org
This is my son's fundraising page for our local chapter of the Buddy Walk http://www.ezeventsolutions.com/fr/DSSW/2012BuddyWalk/TheGaginators
I encourage you to find a local chapter and join a walk in October, support a great cause and an incredible group of people!
If I weren't in such a rush this morning, I would write plenty more :) (maybe lucky for you)
Have a blessed day!
